[Material derivations] Samples and tests
Derivaciones materiales [2024] is a piece made out of samples of different material tests results. As a main result of the Phd research ‘Graphic Ecosistems’ paper samples developed from the selected Invasive Alien Species where tested in order to clarify its printability (viability for being printed on) and heat resistance. Three main techniques were applied: Photoengraving, xylography print and laser engraving.
The series Derivas materiales is the piece that puts in dialogue all the materials developed and some of the images generated during the research. The pieces that compose it are samples of the pictorial and paper materials that, together, seek to create another different dimension of each of the plants. In this way, the main pieces, seven printed or laser engraved papers, are illustrated and/or printed with their own material and image.
The selection of pieces seeks not only to highlight the texture, color and potential of the papers and inks developed, but also to offer a summary of part of the research developed during the doctoral stage.
